Our Elf on the Shelf.....Freddy

The kids came home from church to find this box on the front porch (shhh they don't know that mail doesn't come on Sundays).

We brought it inside, opened it up.....

and this is what we found....

So we put it under the Christmas tree, which only had the lights on it so far.

When the kids woke up the next morning I could hear the commotion of them accusing one another of opening the box and then Joshua came running upstairs to tell Jay and I that the box was open and there was a little man sitting in our tree. WHAT??? (he he he). We went downstairs and this is what we saw....

There was a book that came with him so we read it together and it told us that Santa sent our elf and there are only two rules: 1) No one can touch the elf, it will take his magic away (he goes home to the north pole each night and returns each morning some where else in the house) 2) The elf is not allowed to talk but the kids and talk to the elf and tell him what they want for Christmas and if they have been good.

This was soooo much fun. Since I am catching up on my blog I am just going to do one post about the elf and show you some pictures of where we found him each morning. The kids loved waking up each morning and searching for him. They talked to him and tattled on one another to him and they were very sad Christmas Eve night when they told him good bye because they knew he would be going back to the North Pole and not returing until next year. They named him Freddy and registered him at Elfontheshelf.com

One morning the kids found the elf having dinner with barbie in the barbie house and the next day we found him in barbie's car in front of the tv. They were watching the Elf movie!

I think this day he was missing the colder weather at the North Pole because he got into our sugar and made a snow angel.

One morning they found him on top of our wreath holding the car keys...good thing we have an extra set.

The next morning we found out why he had the car keys....he decided to hide out in the car and go with us to Co-op.

One morning they found him just hanging around on our kitchen table light.

Christmas Eve morning the kids found him at the top of Anastasia's Christmas tree. He knew it was her birthday!

We can't wait till he comes back next year! Did you have an elf visit your house? If so tell us of some of his adventures we would love to hear them.

Happy Thanksgiving

What an especially blessed Thanksgiving!  We had a houseful but I didn't have to do a thing.  Papa and Grandma brought the turkey over already cooked.  Mercedes and Anastasia got the house all ready and made several side dishes.  My friend Alison and her family joined us as well.  I pretty much just sat around and took care of Jadon .

Here are a few pictures that I got:

This was Grandma's first time seeing and holding Jadon, with everything going around she didn't want to take a chance coming into the hospital.

It Was Love At First Sight!

Photobucket

We came home from the hospital early Wednesday evening and when we walked through the door the kids were so excited! They all wanted to see and hold baby Jadon.

Even Tasha kept saying "baby,baby"

Next it was time for everyone to get a chance to hold him.

I was sitting right next to Joshua as he was holding Jadon and he just stared at him and talked to him softly and then Joshua looked up at me and said "Thank you mommy for giving me a brother" Talk about melting my heart!!

After all the kids got a chance to hold Jadon. We then gave them gifts that Jadon got for each of them.Jadon got Anastasia some hot chocolate and in the corner you can see Tasha's sleeper from Jadon as well.

Jadon got Joshua a T-shirt

He got Savannah and Alexa each their own pack of bubble gum.

Then each of the kids gave a gift from themselves to Jadon.

The Gang!

I don't know how long it will be before we get a picture where they are all looking and smiling at once.

Welcome Our Newest Blessing

For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139: 13-14

Jadon Christopher made his debut on November 23 at 1:11pm  Jadon means He will judge; Thankful (perfect for a Thanksgiving baby)  It is also found in Nehemiah 3:7.  Christopher means bearer of Christ.A picture of me before we left for the hospital

The Daddy and Mommy to be......again!

We had to be at the hopsital by 10:30 so we drove all the kids with us and Papa and Grandma and Aunt Jutem met us up there.  They were taking the kids to buy gifts for Jadon and then out to pizza.  The original plan was then for them to bring them back to the hospital after the baby was born so they could come meet their brother but with the swine flu going around they won't allow and kids in the hospital.  I understand but was not very happy about it!!!  I gave the kids all kisses and hugs before they left and Savannah would not let go of my neck she just cried and cried!  It broke my heart.  She does not like her mommy being gone.

Jutem and I

Here I am getting ready and waiting for them to take me back to the OR.  I was not that nervous and doing fine.  Jay and I were just talking and then in came a new baby in the little curtain area next to mine and as soon as I heard him cry I started crying!  I must of had a surge of hormones or something just hearing that newborn cry.... oh well.

Jay in his scrubs!

Here comes Jadon!!!

They always hold the baby up quickly right after birth so I can see but then this is really the first time I get to see, touch and talk to him!

He weighed 7.3 and was 20 inches long

He is beautiful and precious!!!  God has blessed us once again!

Ok so we fudged on Anastasia's age by a month so she could at least come in real quick and see him.

Aunt Jutem

Aunt Jutem has a really cool little flip video recorder.  So she filmed me talking to the kids and holding the baby then Jay was able to go out to the car and play it for the kids.  That was awesome!

Our favorite babysitter of all time, Mercedes.  She and her dad came out from NM for Thanksgiving and they stayed with the kids so Jay could stay at the hospital the with me.

Our Pastor and his wife came up to the hospital.  (Just a side note if you notice Jay has a beard and so does our pastor.  A lot of the men at church are growing beards right now for our Walk Thru Bethlehem event)

Aunt Jutem made the little hat for Jadon

He is so tiny!

The fold out chair Jay got to sleep in  for two nights.

Our new little baby boy!

I love this picture!

Taking a little snooze together before we go home

We always get a picture around the bed with the whole family.  I guess we will have to take one at home this time.

Waiting for Jay to bring the suburban around so we can go home.

I was amazed and thanking the Lord at how quickly and somewhat easily I was recovering and getting around.  Jay and I both know it was because I was covered in prayer the entire time!  We were able to come home late Wednesday afternoon.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; They will not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.  Psalm 127:4-5

I think our quiver is full!
