Farm Unit

Here is a quick plan of what we are going to do.  I will update it if things change.  We scored at the library with all sorts of farm and animals books.  We also have several of  our own.  Here is a simple plan of what we are going to do.


  DOWN ON THE FARM


Unit for PreK-K


 Day 1- **Complete 3 activities (from day 1) with Down on the Farm lap book from HOAC


                           **Read This is the Farmer by Nancy Tafuri  The Cow Who Clucked by Denise Fleming


                 **Start building play farm that can stay up during the unit.  We have a Fisher Price Barn to use.



 Day 2-**Complete 3 activities (from day 2) with Down on the Farm lap book from HOAC


                ** Read A Particular Cow by Mem Fox  Five Little Chicks by Nancy Tafuri


                     Farm Animals Chickens by Rachael Bell   The Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown


                **From Unit and Themes “Farm”  Start learning  “Take me out to the Barn Yard” and  “On a Farm” and “Farm Sounds”


                ** Complete “Match the Farm Products” and “Circle the Sound of Farm Animals” work sheets from enchantedlearning.com 


                **Add to farm



Day 3- ** Complete 3 activities (from day 3) with Down on the Farm lap book from HOAC


                ** Read Have you Seen My Duckling? by Nancy Tafuri  Goodnight, My Duckling by Nancy Tafuri

 Day 6- **Start making Red Barn, Red Barn What do you see book


                         Pink pig (pink tissue paper), yellow duck (yellow constructions paper), black cow         (sponge paint), white sheep(cotton balls), red rooster (glitter) , brown horse (crayons)


                **  Start learning Nursery Rhymes such as Baa Baa Black Sheep, Little Boy Blue, Mary had a Little Lamb, etc


                **  Read  When the Rooster Crowed by Patricia Lillie


                                 Going to Sleep on the Farm by Wendy Cheyette Lewison


 Day 7-** Work on Red Barn, Red Barn book  and Nursery Rhymes

 Day 9- ** Work on Red Barn, Red Barn book  and Nursery Rhymes


                ** Read What a Wonderful Day to be a Cow by Carolyn Lesser

 Day 10 &11- **Finish any undone activities


                               **Read any favorite books again


                               **Complete My favorite farm animal page


                               **Put together lap books


               We started building our farm and the kids had a great time with this.  We set it up in a corner of the playroom where it will be able to stay up for awhile.  I told Joshua we didn't need any of his cars but he insisted because he said the people were coming to visit Wilbur!!
