A Unit About the Farm

Today is Wednesday and that means library day. We go to the library each Wednesday morning for story time. Anastasia brings along school work to do and I go into story time with the other 3. The librarian who hosts it is absolutely wonderful and the kids love her. After story time, Joshua usually plays on the computer while Anastasia and I look for books. Alexa stays with us in the stroller and Savannah usually finds other little kids to talk to.

Anastasia will be looking for books about Arizona to finish up her unit study and I will be looking for books about the Farm and farm animals today. I am getting ready to start a 2 ½ week study with the younger kids and we are going to end our study with a trip to a local working farm on the 25th of this month. We are all excited to do this. I love planning units although I will usually overwhelm myself with finding too much info and activities. I tried to limit my searches this time and now I printed off a bunch of stuff and this afternoon during naps I will go through it and plan activities for the next 2 weeks. We are starting with our Hands of a Child lap book “Down on the Farm” and then I will expand from there. Here are some great web sites where I found farm activities: http://www.mrspohlmeyerskinderpage.com/unitsandthemes.htm

After I figure out our daily activities I will post them here to share with others.

Now off to the library we go.
